Combining Injectables

At Central Dermatology Center, we hear from many prospective patients who wish to erase wrinkles and smooth their skin with popular BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments. In some cases, these patients are actually better served by combining BOTOX with injectable fillers, such as Restylane® and JUVÉDERM®, at our Chapel Hill, North Carolina, The Skin Care and Laser Center of Central Dermatology and dermatology offices in Sanford and Cary. This 2-pronged approach can create impressive results without the scars or recovery time associated with surgery.

With the number of non-surgical options available, it’s important to ask an experienced medical professional what’s best for you. Request an appointment online at our medical spa, which is overseen by the board-certified dermatologists of Central Dermatology Center. Or call (919) 493-3194 to schedule an appointment.

A ‘Lift’ Without Surgery

A combination injectable procedure can effectively improve the look of fine lines, deeper wrinkles, and sunken cheeks. With strategic administration, a combination of dermal fillers and BOTOX Cosmetic or Dysport® can rejuvenate your face in a way that’s noticeable but natural-looking. If you’re registered with our Brilliant Distinctions® program, you earn reward points every time you get JUVÉDERM or BOTOX treatments. Those points help you save money on future procedures.

Many patients don’t realize that BOTOX and fillers can be administered at the same time. But when performed by the medical professionals at Central Dermatology Center, this approach is very safe and highly effective. Using injectables such as Restylane, BOTOX, and JUVÉDERM, our Raleigh-Durham-area patients can see improvement of many age-related concerns, including:

  • Nasolabial folds, or the lines that run from the nose to the corners of the mouth
  • Glabellar lines, or the vertical “frown lines” that form between the eyebrows
  • Marionette lines, or the lines that extend downward from the corners of the mouth
  • Crow’s feet
  • Dark circles and under-eye bags
  • Forehead lines
  • Sunken cheeks
  • Thin lips

The final result is a lifted, more voluminous appearance with fewer noticeable lines and wrinkles.

What Can I Expect?

Injectable treatments, even when performed in concert with one another, are generally brief and comfortable. The injector first cleanses the targeted areas and marks them for maximum accuracy. Our injectors can also use a topical anesthetic at this time to make sure the treatments are comfortable. The injector then makes a series of quick injections, which many people say feel similar to a pinprick. Some injectable products, such as JUVÉDERM, come pre-formulated with lidocaine to further enhance patient comfort. Once the injections are complete, you may be given a cold compress to minimize swelling.

Although the results of fillers are typically seen instantly, the results of neurotoxins such as BOTOX Cosmetic and Dysport can take up to 14 days to take full effect and several days before a patient is able to see any developments. Depending on the products used and the areas of the face involved, results may last anywhere between 3 months to more than a year. Prior to your treatment, your injector will give you a better sense of the results you can expect.
